Anne Bevan is an artist based in Edinburgh and is a member of the CORE research group. Her research involves looking at contemporary and historical science relating to the sea and oceanography. Charles Wyville Thompson was a botanist and chair of Natural History at the University of Edinburgh. He was appointed the chief scientist on the 4 year long HMS Challenger Expedition, which saw the beginning of the science of oceanography.
